I am not a fan of the Montreal Canadiens or the Boston Bruins. Still, I've found myself on the edge of my seat throughout the second period, feeling as if it was the end of the game. It's 0-0, and every shot is gut-wrenching. For some reason, this game is already approaching the feel of overtime in Game 7. These 0-0 hockey games are nerve-wracking.
Canadiens Vs. Bruins, Game 5: Scoreless Second Period Has Overtime Feel
Everything about the second period of this game was dead even. Both teams had decent chances, but both defenses and goalies were impeccable. The big defensemen for each team, Zdeno Chara and Hal Gill, are playing great games. It's getting more physical and the teams are looking more willing to start a big brawl the longer this one goes without a goal.
Goal-fests can be fun, but in such a high scoring year as this one has been, these 0-0 draws are pretty enthralling. A goal has to come eventually, and it could feel like life or death when it hits.
