Mike Green has already missed 26 games this season when he suffered a concussion after blocking a shot with his head on Super Bowl Sunday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. So when Capitals fans must have been holding their breaths when Green blocked a shot with his head against the Rangers in Game 5:

That’s right, Mike Green blocked another shot with his head and the shot hit him hard enough that the screws in his helmet literally came loose. Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau had this to say about Green’s status after the game:
“We could have played him,” Boudreau told reporters. “But the longer it went, we just said, ‘Okay, let’s see if we can’t get by.’ He got a puck in the head, but he told me he’s fine after the game. So I’m going to live with that.”
Green currently leads Capitals defensemen with five points and tied for second among all defensemen with those five points as well. With the Capitals eliminating the Rangers on Saturday night, they will have a few days off to rest and heal up before their next matchup.
