Bruins Vs. Canadiens Game 6: Mike Cammalleri Gives Montreal 1-0 Lead After First

The Montreal Canadiens are looking to force a Game 7 with their first home win of the series. A 1-0 lead after the first period seems to be the right way to start.

Brian Gionta seemed to have given the Canadiens an early 1-0 lead after beating an out of position Tim Thomas but the play was blown dead by referee Kevin Pollock after he lost sight of the puck and thought that Thomas had frozen the puck. The Bell Centre crowd was livid and started throwing things on the ice in their disgust which caused a delay in the game.

The real Canadiens lead came at the ten minute mark of the period on a five on three powerplay for the Canadiens. Mike Cammalleri scored his third goal of the series while P.K. Subban and Tomas Plekanec each registered an assist on the goal. The Bruins gave up two penalties within three seconds of each other to give the Canadiens the five on three advantage. The first penalty came as a bench minor for too many men and then off the draw Dennis Seidenberg slashed a Canadien stick in two.

The Canadiens finished the period outshooting the Bruins 11-10. The Canadiens are also 1 for 2 on the powerplay while the Bruins haven’t had a chance on the man advantage yet.
