The Chicago Blackhawks are hanging on the slightest of threads right now in Game 7 of their Western Conference Quarterfinal series with the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks’ lead is still only 1-0, but they seemed to grow even stronger in the second period than they were in the first period. The defense have been blocking shots and out-working the Blackhawks forwards. Roberto Luongo hasn’t been asked to do anything that far beyond being steady. Another goal might do it for Vancouver.
Blackhawks Vs. Canucks, Game 7: Vancouver Dominates, Still Only Lead 1-0 After Two Periods
However, something must be said about how well Corey Crawford has played. Even when the team in front of him wasn’t supporting him early in the series, he was great and here in Game 7, he has given one of the best performances you can imagine. Crawford made a whopping 15 saves in period two, many of them high-quality. He’s made 22 saves so far, to Roberto Luongo’s 18. If the Hawks come back, he’ll be the only reason they even have a chance at it.
So, 20 minutes separate us from a potential ending. The Blackhawks have been unable to sustain much of an attack in Game 7, becoming more one-and-done and less being able to set up and make some things happen. However, if there is a next goal to be scored in this game, it will be massive.
