Nicklas Lidstrom will return for one more year. The All-World defenseman signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings on Monday and will continue his Hall of Fame career in 2011-12.

With Lidstrom in the picture, the Wings avoid that situation, while still earning $6 million to play with under the salary cap thanks to Rafalski’s departure. Ken Holland might have a fun summer. Meanwhile, we get the treat of watching Nicklas Lidstrom for another year, and I don’t think anybody (outside of the Central Division) is complaining about that.
