2011 NHL Draft Results: Sean Couturier Selected By Philadelphia Flyers With 8th Pick

With the 8th pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers select Sean Couturier, a center from the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Couturier is perhaps the best two-way forward in the draft. He has immense talent, scores at will in the Q (back-to-back 96 point years), and when he drops back on defense, he can play the role with the best of them. He’s used in literally every situation in Drummondville and that’s not an easy thing to come by when talking about a player with this kind of skill.

That combination is what forced our Devils blog to select him early in our 2011 Mock Draft, and slid all the way to the Philadelphia Flyers who picked up this pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Jeff Carter trade.
