2011 NHL Draft Results: Dougie Hamilton Selected By Boston Bruins With 9th Pick
Hamilton is a tall 6’4” defenseman, although he seems even taller than that list height. He’s definitely a little tiny for that sizable frame and could use some help in putting on some weight, but as is the theme throughout the first round of this draft, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Hamilton has all of the unteachable things: great foot work and the ability to accelerate quickly from a stand-still.
All in all, he’s going to be a top-pairing NHL defenseman someday if he can bulk up and continue to get better, and there’s no reason to expect otherwise.
