In a very quiet NHL Draft thus far, the first trade during the first round of the draft sees the Washington Capitals trading their only first round pick, the 26th overall selection, to the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Troy Brouwer. Brouwer was selected by the Blackhawks in the 2004 Draft and has played five seasons for the Blackhawks. During those five seasons, Brouwer had 49 goals and 103 points in 238 games with Chicago.
NHL Draft 2011: Washington Sends 26th Pick For Troy Brouwer
The Blackhawks now have two picks in the first round of the 2011 NHL Draft as they select 18th as well. For the Capitals, they will now not select in the 2011 NHL Draft until pick number 117 which is in the fourth round as they traded away their second and third round picks for players.
