NHL Draft Results: Mark McNeill Selected By Chicago Blackhawks With 18th Pick

With the 18th pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks selected Mark McNeill, a center from the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League. McNeill is a well-rounded, two-way center that put up 81 points in 70 games with Prince Albert this past season. He's known for his well-roundedness, mostly: an ability to put the puck in the net, the ability to use his size effectively and responsibility in all three zones of the ice.

When selecting McNeill in our 2011 NHL Mock Draft, our Calgary Flames bloggers at Matchsticks & Gasoline called McNeill "the closest thing to a complete, well-rounded player that could be available" with the pick they held, the 13th. He has solid skills in just about all departments -- defense, skating, strength, scoring, you name it.
