The San Jose Sharks just resigned Devin Setoguchi to a three year, $9 million deal yesterday and it seemed that the Sharks were going to have his services for a few years to come. The next day, the Sharks send him to Minnesota along with Charlie Coyle, and a 1st round pick for Brent Burns and Minnesota's 2nd round pick.
San Jose Sharks Send Devin Setoguchi To Minnesota In Blockbuster Trade
In 267 games with the Sharks, Setoguchi scored 84 goals and 159 points and added another 24 points in 48 games during his playoff career. Burns has seven years of experience with the Minnesota Wild and has one year left on his contract which will bring a $3.55 million cap hit with it according to CapGeek.com.
The immediate reaction to this trade is that the Wild won this trade hands down. Setoguchi has a few more years ahead of him and more offensive production per game during his career than Burns.
