The Columbus Blue Jackets had high hopes for Nikita Filatov when they drafted him 6th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft. Those hopes soured quickly as Filatov became more of a headache than what he was worth as he only played in 44 games over three seasons with the Blue Jackets.
Columbus Blue Jackets Trade Nikita Filatov To Ottawa Senators
The Blue Jackets have now passed that headache onto the Ottawa Senators as they dealt him for Ottawa's 3rd round pick in this year's draft (66th overall). Filatov could blossom with a change of scenery as he just couldn't make it work in Columbus where the expectations were much higher. Filatov still appears to have the skills to be a top six forward in the NHL, he just has some other issues to deal with to get to that point.
