When it rains, it pours for Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green. He's played in just 10 games this season, missing extended time for a sprained ankle early in the year, then a groin injury in November. Green returned to the ice in January and played in two games before going out injured once again. On Monday, the Caps announced that Green would have abdominal surgery and miss another 4-6 weeks of action.
Mike Green Injury: Capitals Defenseman Out 4-6 Weeks Following Abdominal Surgery
Washington Capitals defensemen Mike Green has suffered yet another injury. He will have abdominal surgery and miss another 4-6 weeks.

The Capitals are currently on top of the weak Southeastern division. That would make them the third seed if the playoffs started today, but they will drop to the edge of playoff spots if passed for the division lead by the Florida Panthers. The team has struggled to score goals five-on-five relative to their talent level this season, but their defense and power play has held up surprisingly well in Green's absence.
