It's safe to say we know which team the Ottawa crowd will be cheering for. Not only does Team Alfredsson have Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson at the helm, but with their first two picks, both the captain and his assistant, Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, opted for some home cooking.
NHL All-Star Draft 2012: Through 20 Picks, Team Alfredsson Getting All The Cheers
Going No. 3 overall was Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson, quite the deserving pick. Jason Spezza, also of the Sens, went No. 4 overall, despite probably not being the fourth best player on the board. It's pretty obvious the strategy there, though. Brian Elliott, the former Senators goalie, also joined Team Alfredsson with the No. 14 pick.
The only Senator still on the board through the first 20 picks of the draft is forward Milan Michalek, and we'd have to assume that Zdeno Chara and Joffrey Lupul of Team Chara will be nice enough to leave him on the board for the opposition.
Then again, Chara and Lupul apparently have a penchant for splitting up teammates. Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers was taken by Team Alfredsson with the No. 8 overall pick, and just following, Lupul stepped up and picked teammate Kimmo Timonen. It happened again with Predators defensemen Shea Weber, who went to Team Alfredsson with the No. 16 pick, and Ryan Suter, his defensive partner who went to Team Chara at No. 17.
With Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul both on the roster, the boos are, well... off the charts.
