NHL Skills Competition 2012: TV Schedule, Announcers And More

With apologies to the unique NHL All-Star Draft event that was held on Thursday night, one of the most exciting events of the NHL’s All-Star Weekend is the annual skills competition on Saturday night.

The actual skills competition will be shown live on the NBC Sports Network in the United States and CBC in Canada beginning at 7pm ET, but the NHL Network and CBC will have pregame shows.

For NBC, Dave Strader will handle the play-by-play with Eddie Olczyk in the booth. Pierre McGuire and Jeremy Roenick will be on the ice for player interviews with Liam McHugh, Mike Milbury and Keith Jones in the studio at Scotiabank Place.

The NHL Network’s pregame show begins at 4pm ET and the network will have Kathryn Tappen and Brian Duff, analysts Barry Melrose, Kevin Weekes, Mike Johnson and EJ Hradek and reporter Heidi Androl in Ottawa throughout the weekend’s festivities.

CBC’s coverage begins at 5pm ET with Hockey Night In Canada Game Day, hosted by P.J. Stock and Andi Petrillo with a pregame show beginning at 6:30pm ET. Ron McLean will host the actual event alongside Kelly Hrudey. Jim Hughson calls the action and Craig Simpson, Glenn Healy, Scott Oake and Elliotte Friedman provide updates from ice level.
