Patrice Bergeron will be the second Boston Bruins player to ply his trade in Switzerland, as the team's alternate captain has reached a deal with HC Lugano of the Swiss National League A during the NHL lockout.

The Boston Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron will play overseas with HC Lugano of the Swiss league, joining linemate Tyler Seguin in Switzerland.

The 27-year-old center joins Tyler Seguin in Switzerland, as his linemate signed Sept. 20 with EHC Biel in the same league. Their decision to play overseas is interesting, as both players are Canadian, while the majority of players who have taken their game across the pond hail from Europe.
The Bruins’ Zdeno Chara also signed with a European club Tuesday, reaching a deal with Lev Praha, a Czech team in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League. The Boston Herald reports that there are now eight Bruins playing overseas - including three out of five players on the team’s first lines - while waiting for the lockout to reach its conclusion.
Bergeron was second on the team in points with 64 and led the NHL in plus-minus, with a rating of +36 on the season.
