11 ranked teams will be hitting the ice throughout the day Saturday. There are also a pair of games where both teams are ranked; No. 14 Northeastern is taking on No. 3 Boston College, and No. 10 Massachusetts-Lowell is going up against No. 19 Colorado College.
2012 NCAA Hockey: Several ranked teams hitting the ice Saturday
There are 23 games going on in college hockey on Saturday, and the top four ranked teams are all in action.


No. 1 Minnesota at Michigan Tech
These two teams are playing for the second straight night. In Friday’s game, Minnesota fell behing 3-1 after the first period and could not recover, losing their WCHA opener, 5-3. Michigan Tech was led by Blake Pietilla, who scored a pair of goals in the upset victory.
No. 2 North Dakota at Alaska
North Dakota is taking part in the Alaska Goal Rush tournament, and they played Alaska-Anchorage Friday night. North Dakota had no issues in its 5-0 win over Alaska-Anchorage. Goalie Clarke Saunders recorded the shutout.
No. 14 Northeastern at No. 3 Boston College
Boston College is playing its second game in as many nights. On Friday they defeated UMass 5-4 in overtime, but not before overcoming a three-goal deficit. Boston College trailed 3-0 heading into the final period, and were able to outscore UMass 4-1 to force overtime. The game-winning goal was scored by Johnny Gaudreau on an even-strength goal 3:37 in the extra frame.
Northeastern is 2-0 and has not played since last Saturday. That game was also against Boston College, and Northeastern won, 3-1.
Providence at No. 4 Miami (OH)
These two schools are playing back-to-back games against each other. In Friday night’s game, Providence shocked Miami by playing them to a 1-1 overtime draw. Providence had chances in overtime, getting four shots on goal while Miami had just one.
