AHL schedule 2012: Nazem Kadri, Cody Eakin highlight Sunday action

Six NHL players will be in action for AHL teams on Sunday, with Dallas Stars prospect Cody Eakin and Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri highlighting the day’s action.

With six games on the schedule in the AHL, six players from across the NHL highlight the action on Sunday.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri, playing with the Toronto Marlies, will face the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. Kadri, who had five goals and seven points in 21 games for Toronto last season, has just two assists in four games so far this season in the AHL.

Braden Holtby, goaltending prospect for the Washington Capitals, has appeared in just one game for the Hershey Bears this season in a loss against Syracuse on Oct. 13. The Bears, who have won just one game this season, will face the Binghamton Senators at 5 p.m. ET.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins face Syracuse at 5:05 p.m. ET, with Penguins defenseman Simon Despres on the blue. Despres has one assist in three games this season with W-B/Scranton.

The Texas Stars, taking on the Lake Erie Monsters at 6 p.m. ET, have two Dallas Stars forwards in the lineup on Sunday. Cody Eakin and Tomas Vincour, who have been playing on the top line for Texas this season, have combined for nine points in four games in 2012-13.

Defenseman Justin Faulk, a second-round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2010, will take the ice with the Charlotte Checkers against the Rockford IceHogs at 6:05 p.m. ET. Faulk, who had 22 points in 66 games with the Hurricanes in 2011-12, has three assists in three games for the Checkers so far this season.
