With the NHL schedule already cancelled through Nov. 1, there is a bit of optimism that the league could begin a condensed 82-game schedule on Nov. 2. Of course, that all hinges on the NHL’s ability to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement with the NHL Players Association by the end of this week.

If you are the kind of person who is inclined to place a wager on these kinds of things, Bovada has set the odds for you. As of this time, the odds are set at 3-to-1 that the lockout will end on or after Nov. 2, while another line has it set at 2-to-1 that the lockout ends before Nov. 2.
If you’re the pessimistic type, the line for the lockout ending before Jan. 1 is currently set at 1-to-1, while wagers placed on the lockout ending after Jan. 1 is set at 4-to-7. As of this time, there are no scheduled negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA, so you probably want to account for that when placing your bets.
