Henrik Lundqvist’s new mask is incredible

He might never get to wear it, but it’s still awesome.

Henrik Lundqvist has a new mask for the NHL lockout, but he’s not letting go of New York just because the league won’t let him play there.

He’ll sport a red, green and gold look dominated by the logo of the Frölunda Indians should he ultimately decide to play in Sweden’s Elitserien during the lockout, but as you can tell, Lady Liberty still shines brightly on each side of the mask.

Lundqvist has yet to decide whether or not he’ll play in Sweden during the lockout, but if he does it’ll be with Frölunda, the club with which he honed his skills before coming to North America in 2005.

Goalie mask painter extraordinaire David Gunnarsson was responsible for the mask, and there are plenty of photos over at his website. He’s done plenty of work for Lundqvist in the past, too.
