The Denver Pioneers hockey team are set for a Friday showdown against a very formidable Colorado College Tigers squad to begin the annual Gold Pan series.

The No. 2 ranked Pioneers and No. 14 Tigers played some tight hockey games last season with Colorado College taking the series 2-1-1. Denver’s offense has been greatly improved this season though with the Pioneers putting up at least five goals in five of their eight games.
Friday’s matchup will be the 284th meeting between these two teams with the series dating all the back to 1950.
