AHL schedule 2012: Sunday, Nov. 18

East Division-leading Syracuse takes on Braden Holtby and Hershey in Sunday’s slate of games.

Rick Stewart

Hershey Bears goalie and NHL playoffs star Braden Holtby will face the unenviable task of slowing down the Syracuse Crunch on Sunday when the two teams meet in upstate New York.

Holtby, who led the Washington Capitals in their stunning first-round upset of the top-seeded Boston Bruins in last season's playoffs, has been unspectacular in his time with the Bears, with a 4-4 record and 2.36 goals against average. He'll go against a Syracuse offense that has poured in 49 goals in just 13 games, a pace that has the team at 9-2-1-1 and atop its division. The Bears and Crunch will take to the ice at 5 p.m. ET in Syracuse.

Elsewhere in the AHL, top Carolina Hurricanes prospect Justin Faulk and the Charlotte Checkers will play against San Antonio. Faulk leads the Checkers with 15 points and 12 assists, and has his team at a Western Conference-best 10-3-0-1. The Rampage, on the other hand, are languishing at the bottom of the South Division at 4-8-0-1, and have lost four straight. Charlotte and San Antonio will face off at 4:30 p.m. CT in Texas.

In other action, Toronto hosts North Division-leading Abbotsford at 3 p.m. ET. Bridgeport travels to Providence for a game at 3:05 p.m. ET. And out west, Rockford takes on Houston at 5:05 p.m. CT.
