College hockey schedule 2012: Sunday, Nov. 18

The No. 6 New Hampshire Wildcats will travel to Boston to take on the No. 11 Terriers as both teams try to catch up to top-ranked Boston College.

For Boston University 6-3-0, 5-2-0 in Hockey East), Sunday’s game will be a chance to take revenge for a 4-1 loss to New Hampshire back on Oct. 20. In that game, Wildcats goalie Casey DeSmith made 24 saves, and despite falling behind in the first minute, New Hampshire (7-1-1, 5-1-1) rattled freshman goalie Sean Maguire in his first start with four goals on only 14 shots.

In Sunday’s rematch, fellow freshman Matt O’Connor will likely be in between the pipes for the Terriers. He’s been solid this season with a .931 save percentage and just over two goals allowed per contest. Smith, meanwhile, has been stellar for the Wildcats, with a .957 save percentage and goals against allowed of just 1.20.

New Hampshire will have to find a way to slow down Terriers forward Cason Hohmann, who has three goals and six assists in six games. Boston University, however, has to contend with New Hampshire forward Austin Block. The senior has scored six goals in seven games. The Terriers and Wildcats will play at 1 p.m. ET in Boston.

In other college action, Rochester Institute of Technology (2-7-1, 1-4-1 in the Atlantic Hockey Association) will play Holy Cross (7-2-0, 6-2-0) in Worcester at 3:05 p.m. ET. In other Hockey East play, it’s a battle of Massachusetts schools, as UMass (3-4-1, 2-4-1) plays UMass-Lowell (2-5-1, 1-4-1) at 7 p.m. ET in Amherst.
