Dynamo Minsk is in first place in the KHL, tied with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, bolstered by two NHL players in Nicklas Backstrom and Evander Kane, at 14-5 with 55 points. The team — which is ironically in Belarus, not Russa, but who's picking nits here? — had among the greatest infusions of stateside talent and has benefitted.
2012 KHL schedule: Dynamo Minsk takes on Vityaz Chekov Tuesday night
In the KHL’s long Tuesday matchup, Nicklas Backstrom and Dynamo Minsk take on Andrei Markov and Vityaz Chekov.

Tuesday night, Dynamo Minsk will face Vityaz Chekov, a team that has done decidedly worse this season, at 4-10 with 30 points. The Vityazes (Chekovs?) only have one NHL player with them, and, though Andrei Markov is no slouch, it hasn't been quite enough to keep pace.
The two will square off Tuesday in the KHL’s only game of the day, at 11:30 a.m. ET and 7:30 p.m. in Moscow. Dynamo Minsk won its most recent game, 3-2 in overtime over Dinamo Minsk, in a game that surely caused confusion among bloggers other than this one because why on Earth would they name one team Dynamo Minsk and another Dinamo Minsk do the laws of logic not apply in the Belarussian capital? Vityaz lost its last game against SKA St. Petersburg, 3-2.
