NHL lockout: All-Star Game expected to be canceled Friday, according to report

Black Friday will be a dark day for NHL fans this year, as the league is expected to cancel the 2013 NHL All-Star Game on Friday.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the NHL is expected to cancel the 2013 NHL All-Star Game on Friday. The All-Star game is currently scheduled to be held on Jan. 27, 2013, in Columbus, Ohio, and was supposed to generate $12 million dollars for Columbus’ economy.

Black Friday will have a new meaning to NHL fans this year.

Unfortunately for the city of Columbus and NHL fans, the All-Star Game and its companion weekend-long celebration are now expected to be canceled as early as Friday. It’s unknown if and when the city of Columbus will have another opportunity to host the NHL’s All-Star Game.

So far, the NHL has cancelled all games through the month of November, and more cancellations appear to be imminent. By cancelling all games through November, the league has lost 327 games in the 2012-13 season, including the Winter Classic.

The NHL and NHLPA are expected to meet again on Friday, in what appears to be a last-ditch effort to prevent more cancellations.
