Before meeting with NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly on Tuesday in a private location in New York City, NHL Players’ Association executive director Donald Fehr told the media that the two sides will discuss the “issues that divide” the two sides, according to NHL.com.

NHL Players’ Association executive director Donald Fehr said meeting will focus on ‘issues that divide’ league and union.
Daly said that he would meet with the media after the negotiations were over in order “to avoid disrupting the process.”
After Friday's announcement by the NHL that the Winter Classic game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings was cancelled, the two sides met at an undisclosed location on Saturday. Daly and NHLPA special council Steve Fehr met privately and said they wanted to continue negotiations.
It was the first time the union and the league were face-to-face since Oct. 18, when they met in Toronto.
The goal during the ongoing negotiations will be to find a common ground in the league revenue split between owners and players. The NHL has been without a collective bargaining agreement since Sept. 15.
