Gary Bettman on negotiations: ‘We’re working hard’

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman spoke briefly after collective bargaining agreement negotiations on Thursday.

Following Thursday’s collective bargaining agreement discussions between the NHL and NHL Players’ Association, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said the two sides are working hard, but still have a lot of work to do.

Bettman declined to go into specifics, instead saying the two sides are working to get a fair agreement in place as soon as possible. He said CBA discussions are an up-and-down process and it would be hard to handicap where the two sides stand.

Bettman said the two sides have met the last three days and would meet again on Friday. He said he didn’t think discussing the specifics of the latest negotiations would be helpful for the process. The NHL cancelled games through Nov. 30 and Bettman declined to look further ahead, saying the two sides are going to continue to meet and hopefully it “leads to the right place.”

Bettman’s comments can be seen in full in the video below.
