Daniel Winnik, T.J. Galiardi Traded To Sharks For Jamie McGinn, Two Prospects
Sharks deal Jamie McGinn to the Colorado Avalanche in an apparent effort to bolster their penalty kill.
Galiardi and Winnik do bring some scoring touch, although neither can match McGinn’s production this year. Galiardi has eight goals and six assists, while Winnik has five goals and 13 assists. McGinn, 23, has already set career highs in goals (12) and assists (12) and was on his way to posting his first positive +/- rating of his career (+2).
The Sharks, who have the third best power-play, have been knee-capped by a penalty-kill unit that ranks 28th in the league. Only the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets have killed less than their 77.4 percent of penalties.
