Johnny Oduya Traded To Chicago Blackhawks For Two Picks
Johnny Oduya has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for two Winnipeg Jets draft picks.

It's rare that a team in the thick of a playoff race trades away a contributing player for nothing but picks, but that's what the Jets have done in trading the defenseman Oduya. He was sent to the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets near the deadline two years ago in the Ilya Kovalchuk trade with the New Jersey Devils.
Oduya earns $3.5 million against the salary cap and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. He’s certainly a stay-at-home defenseman with tremendous skill in his own end, although he shouldn’t be expected to contribute much offensively. He fills a need for the Blackhawks as they make their drive towards the postseason.
