Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is being called "day-to-day" by Pens coach Dan Bylsma after leaving the game against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday. With 9:55 remaining in the first period. Letang suffered a hit to the head from Stars winger Eric Nystrom, stayed down on the ice for an extended period of time and struggled to leave the ice.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is being called “day-to-day” after suffering a hit to the head from Eric Nystrom of the Dallas Stars.

Here’s the hit that caused Letang’s injury.
Letang missed time earlier this season with a concussion. In that instance, unlike in this game, Letang did not immediately leave the game. He missed nearly two months of action as a result of that concussion, suffered in a game against the Montreal Canadiens. The Penguins have neither confirmed nor denied that Letang suffered a concussion as a result of Nystrom's hit. Brendan Shanahan and the NHL Department of Player Safety will almost certainly be taking a look at this hit, and it wouldn't be shocking to see a suspension levied against Nystrom.
