Marty Turco Signs Contract With Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins signed veteran goalie Marty Turco on Monday night. The team needed a replacement for Tuukka Rask as he’s scheduled to miss four to six weeks with an injury.

Marty Turco began this season playing hockey in Austria, making it seem as though the longtime goaltender for the Dallas Stars might have watched the window close on his NHL career. That wasn't the case, however, as the Boston Bruins signed the 36-year-old as an injury replacement on Monday.

Turco will take the roster spot of Tuukka Rask, who will be out four to six weeks due to injury. SB Nation Boston has more on the signing:

The Bruins announced the move in a press release early Monday evening. If Turco clears waivers, the Bruins will sign him to a one-year contract. Turco will be unable to play in the postseason because his official signing will be after the league’s trade deadline.

Turco has been a NHL Network analyst so obviously his knowledge of the game is well above average, but at 36, the quickness needed to defend the net might be slowly seeping away.
