Boston Bruins' forward Nathan Horton will miss the 2012 NHL Playoffs with a concussion. He hasn't played since Jan. 22 after sustaining the concussion against the Philadelphia Flyers on a hit by Tom Sestito. Horton played just 46 games this season, picking up 17 goals and 15 assists.

Boston Bruins forward Nathan Horton will miss the 2012 NHL Playoffs due to the concussion he suffered against the Philadelphia Flyers in January.
The news is a major blow to the defending Stanley Cup champions, who are set to face off against the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Horton scored eight goals -- including three game winners -- and had nine assists during last year's postseason. He missed the final four games of the Bruins' seven-game NHL Finals series against the Vancouver Canucks with another concussion suffered in Game 3.
Horton had tried to resume skating in February, but suffered a setback that took him off the ice until last week. While some had hoped that this signaled an imminent return with the playoffs set to start, general manager Peter Chiarelli indicated Sunday that Horton was a “long shot” to return.
