David Krejci didn't make it onto the practice ice Friday morning after the Boston Bruins forward was struck by a falling pane of glass during his team's post-Game 1 victory celebration on Thursday night.
David Krejci Misses Practice, Expects To Play After Being Hit By Pane Of Glass
David Krejci did not join his Boston Bruins teammates for practice Friday, one day after being struck in the head by a falling pane of TD Garden glass.
According to CSN New England, the Bruins have yet to officially update Krejci's status, but the center was not on the ice with his teammates as they began preparation for Saturday's Game 2 against the Washington Capitals.
Krejci appeared fine after a freak accident occurred at TD Garden following Game 1. While the Bruins were celebrating near the endboards after Chris Kelly's game-winning overtime goal, excited fans knocked a pane of glass loose. It tumbled onto the ice and caught Krejci completely off-guard, striking him in the head.
Krejci is a vital piece of the Bruins' puzzle. It was his season-ending injury in the Game 3 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals that is often-credited as the turning point of what ultimately turned into a blown 3-0 series lead by Boston to the Philadelphia Flyers. Krejci had 23 goals and 39 assists in 79 games this regular season, and he led all Bruins forwards in ice time in Game 1.
