Flyers Vs. Penguins, NHL Playoffs 2012 Game 3: Amidst 72 Penalty Minutes, Philly Takes 4-2 Lead

Catch your breath yet? There were 72 penalty minutes handed out and six goals scored in the first period of Game 3 between the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, who apparently can't seem to play a relaxing game in this Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series. In the midst of all the fights and drama, you may have missed the score.

After one period, the Philadelphia Flyers hold the 4-2 lead.

How did that happen? Danny Briere scored two straight goals to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead, and in a four-on-four situation at the 15:17 mark of the period, James Neal made a beautiful move to pull the Penguins back within a goal. That didn't last long, however, as just 23 seconds later, Philadelphia rookie Matt Read put his team back up by two.

Kris Letang, Kimmo Timonen and Arron Asham have all been kicked out of the hockey game, which will no doubt have an impact on the outcome. Two periods still remain.
