Timeout Seems To Have Helped New York Rangers

It might be safe to say now that John Tortorella’s time out did wonders for the New York Rangers. Shot attempts have been about even since the stoppage at the 1:51 mark of the second period in Game 3, but the Rangers clearly have more jump in their step and New Jersey hasn’t been able to dominate the Rangers with their forecheck as they have for much of the game so far.

The game is getting a bit loose — several odd-man rushes, a few breakaways, and a ton of great saves from each goaltender. As John Tortorella said during his interview with Pierre McGuire on NBC, though, the teams are still just trading chances. The timeout helped the Rangers, but they still need to establish much more zone time if they want to take control of the game.
