Marc Bergevin will be introduced as the next general manager of the Montreal Canadiens at a 2 p.m. ET Wednesday press conference in Montreal. In Chicago, the Blackhawks are moving on without their assistant general manager.

Bergevin has been a member of the Blackhawks organization since retiring as an NHL player in 2004. He’s served many roles with the club, from pro scout to assistant coach to director of player personnel to assistant general manager. Chicago general manager Stan Bowman wished him luck as a member of the Canadiens.
“While it is never easy to lose someone of Marc Bergevin’s caliber, both professionally and personally, it is a tremendous opportunity for him and his family. He has played a significant role in our success over the last several years as a member of the front office and coaching staff, and his roots in Chicago stretch to 1983 when he was drafted by the Blackhawks. I want to personally thank him for his dedication to our organization and certainly wish him all the best in Montreal.”
