Derek Dorsett has signed a three-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team announced Wednesday. If everything goes according to plan, Dorsett will stay with the Blue Jackets through at least the 2014-15 season. From the sounds of the things, the right winger couldn't be happier about the move, or about the direction his team his headed.

Derek Dorsett agreed to a three-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday, keeping him with the team through the 2014-15 season. Dorsett led the NHL with 235 penalty minutes last season.

"There have been changes made in different areas and things like that," Dorsett said. "The last month of the season, the guys started to play the way we think we can, and the way we need to play in order to be a competitive team. We've brought new faces in like Jack Johnson, who are competitive guys that want to win. They play hard in all areas of the rink, and they're going to help us be a competitive team now and in the future."
Dorsett played in 77 games last season, and scored a career-high 20 points off 12 goals and eight assists. He has built a steady reputation as an enforcer over his four years in Columbus. Dorsett led the NHL with 235 penalty minutes during the 2011-12 season.
