Stanley Cup Finals 2012: Jeff Carter’s 2nd Goal May Have Put Game 6 Out Of Reach

Jeff Carter was credited with his seventh goal of the postseason at the first intermission. It didn’t take him long to grab his eighth. An absolute snipe of a shot beat Martin Brodeur over the blocker-hand shoulder at the 1:30 mark of the second period, and any hope of a New Jersey comeback seems to be vanishing by the second in its aftermath.

Carter’s known for those kinds of shots. He picked a corner and he nailed it -- although it’s not exactly like he had a ton of pressure on him from the Devils defense. If you allow an elite sniper to get that kind of look, he’s going to hit it just about every time, and it’s unfair to think Martin Brodeur can stop that one.
