NHL Schedule 2012-13: Dallas Stars Have Toughest Travel, Flyers Easiest

All things are not equal in the NHL world, and while all 30 league teams see the same schedule format, it doesn’t mean teams experience the same level of difficulty over the course of an 82-game season. The biggest gap in difficulty comes in the travel department, and as you’d expect, teams in the Western Conference have it much tougher than teams in the compact Eastern Conference.

According to Dirk Hoag's Super Schedule, an annual undertaking over at On the Forecheck, the Dallas Stars again have the toughest travel schedule in the league. They'll log a whopping 49,851 miles over the 2012-13 season, over 10,000 more miles than the league average of 39,792. On the flip side, the Philadelphia Flyers will travel just 27,541 miles during the year.

Philadelphia does have it rough when it comes to back-to-back games though. They'll play 15 sets of back-to-backs, second to Chicago, New Jersey, the New York Islanders and Columbus, all of which will play 16 sets.
