Edmonton Oilers Expected To Announce New Head Coach As Early As Wednesday
The Edmonton Oilers appear ready to announce their new head coach. Oilers associate coach Ralph Krueger is the front-runner for the position.

Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that the Oilers could announce the new coach as early as Wednesday. The new skipper is expected to be Ralph Krueger, who has been an associate coach with Edmonton since 2010. A former NHL player, Krueger previously worked as a scouting consultant for the Carolina Hurricanes and served as the head coach of the Swiss men's national hockey team from 1997 until the end of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The new coach will replace Tom Renney, who took the Oilers’ reins back in 2010. After a very disappointing 2012 season, Renney was informed that his contract would not be renewed.
