Veteran defenseman Sheldon Souray has reached a deal with the Anaheim Ducks, where he'll reportedly earn $11 million over the next three seasons.
Sheldon Souray Signs With Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks added former All-Star Sheldon Souray to shore up a defense that was spotty at points last season.

Souray was once one of the NHL's elite defenders, making three All-Star games between 2004 and 2009, but seemed washed up entering last season with the Dallas Stars. He spent 2010-2011 in the AHL, but the Stars took a chance on him and he didn't disappoint, registering a plus/minus of +11 and scoring 21 points in 64 games. He has a recent history of injuries - concussions, shoulder problems, and this past season, an ankle injury.
The Ducks also signed Bryan Allen from the Carolina Hurricanes to sure up a defense that wasn't great at points last season. The Ducks rounded out their first day of free agency with a pair of other signings: right wing Brad Staubitz, and defenseman Jordan Hendry.
