Jiri Hudler has signed a four-year contract worth $16 million with the Calgary Flames, TSN's Darren Dreger reports. Hudler will be paid $4 million per season to shore up the Flames' offense. He became and unrestricted free agent on July 1 after spending seven seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.

Hudler recorded 50 points off of 25 goals and 25 assists this past season with the Red Wings. He recorded a career high 57 points during the 2008-09 season. Though Hudler’s production will certainly be missed in Detroit, he is getting a significant pay boost from the Flames. He made $2.875 million last season.

The Flames averaged just 2.4 goals per game last season, ranking 24th in the NHL. Hudler should give them boost, though it remains to be seen how he will do on a line without Henrik Zetterberg and Valtteri Filppula.
