Rick Nash May Or May Not Play In Switzerland During Potential NHL Lockout

A Swiss club says that Rick Nash will play for them in the event of a lockout. Nash called them liars. Intrigue!

Gaudenzi Domenig, the president of Swiss league team HC Davos, says that Rick Nash and Joe Thornton will play for his team in the event of an NHL lockout this fall.

That’s according to a very rough -- but still clear enough -- Google translation of a report in Suedostschweiz, a German-language paper in Switzerland. Davos linked that story on their official website under a headline heralding the potential return of Nash and Thornton.

The news is not necessarily all that surprising considering both Nash and Thornton played for Davos during the 2004-05 lockout, winning the National League A title that season. Why not go back to a familiar place where you’ve had success?

While we haven’t heard from Thornton on the matter since this news broke at Yahoo! Sports earlier Thursday, we have heard from Nash and his agent, Joe Resnick. According to TSN, Nash’s camp says that the report is false and that he will not be playing for Davos in the event of a lockout. In essence, he’s calling Domenig and HC Davos liars. That’s fun.
