The Pittsburgh Penguins have reached a deal with young left winger Eric Tangradi as well as a trio of defensemen to keep the group in Pittsburgh for another year.

The Penguins have reached a deal with left wing prospect Eric Tangradi, as well as three minor league defensemen.

Tangradi, 23, played 24 games for the NHL club last year, including two playoff appearances, but spent the majority of the year in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he scored 18 goals in 42 games. The 6'4, 232-pound Philadelphia native was drafted 42nd overall back in 2007 by the Anaheim Ducks and has been in the Penguins franchise since 2009. Although his NHL experience is limited thus far, he's definitely a prominent prospect for the Penguins.
The Penguins also signed Brian Strait, Robert Bortuzzo and Alex Grant. Strait is the most prominent of that group, having played 12 career games for Pittsburgh. Bortuzzo played in six games in the big leagues last year, while Grant scored 10 goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
