NHL TV Schedule: NBC, NBC Sports Network Combine For More Than 100 Games

NBC and NBC Sports Network will continue to lead the way for NHL coverage in the United States. The two networks will combine to show more than 100 games, including opening night, the All-Star Game, Hockey Day in America and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins lead the way, making 17 appearances on NBCSN. The Bruins, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals will have 12 exclusive appearances on the network. As was the case last year, NBC Sports Network will continue to air a number of games that will be broadcast by regional sports networks in the markets of the two teams playing.

This year, once again, NBC begins its coverage on Black Friday, as the Rangers visit the Bruins. Coincidentally enough, that follows a Thanksgiving night game between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots that NBC will be televising. NBC will televise much of the same teams that they throw at America every year, but it is notable that the Los Angeles Kings are guaranteed at least one NBC game (at Washington on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3) and could be flexed in to one more (at Pittsburgh on Feb. 10). Also worth mentioning: the St. Louis Blues have been thrown into the NBC rotation, with four potential flex appearances.

NBC and NBC Sports Network will also continue the practice of airing the games that are not flexed by NBC on NBCSN. NBC Sports Network will air games on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through the new year, when the network returns it’s highly-rated Sunday night package.
