Three Ottawa Senators were among the 10 players that attended the NHLPA's two-day meeting in New York, but they came back home with a lockout looming and now they have to plan for the future.
NHL Lockout 2012: Ottawa’s Erik Karlsson Considering Playing In Sweden
Ottawa Senators defenceman confirmed to the Ottawa Sun that he is considering playing in Sweden if the NHL players are locked this season due to failed labor negotiations.

Erik Karlsson, the highest-scoring defenceman in the NHL last season with 78 points, told the Ottawa Sun that he is considering playing in Sweden, but he's in no hurry to head overseas because he wants to see what happens with the NHL first. Along with Karlsson, Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson were also in New York for the meeting.
“We’re looking at options,” said Karlsson. “We’re not trying to make a deal with anyone. What we’re trying to do is just figure out if worst comes to worst what would be the best place.
“You need to be prepared for whatever is going to happen. You just want to go somewhere and it could be good.”
Karlsson is one of many players seeking other places to play if the players are locked out. Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has been courted by his former team in the KHL, the Dynamo Moscow.
