Dallas Stars Sign G Kari Lehtonen To 5-Year, $29.5 Million Extension
Kari Lehtonen has been extended for an additional five years, the Stars announced on Friday.

The 6’4, 217 pound goalie, owns two of the top-three franchise records for saves in a season after three seasons with the team. With his new contract, Lehtonen is set to remain the goalie for the Stars until the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.
“Kari Lehtonen has worked extremely hard in his time with the Dallas Stars to establish himself as an elite goaltender in the NHL,” said General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk in a press release. “We believe that his best days as a goaltender are ahead, and that his work ethic and leadership will help guide this team into a perennial Stanley Cup contender.”
Prior to joining the team during the 2009-10 season, Lehtonen was the starting goalie for the Atlanta Thrashers and has 10,494 career saves between the two teams.
