Defenseman Alex Edler re-signed with the Vancouver Canucks for six years, the team announced Friday. The team did not disclose financial terms, but Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports that the contract will be worth $30 million over six years.

Defenseman Alex Edler signed a six-year contract with Vancouver.

Edler has played six seasons in the NHL, all with Vancouver. Last season, he had career highs with 11 goals and 38 assists. He also had 34 penalty minutes, and he has 200 for his career. Edler played in all 82 games last season, the first time in his career he’s done that, and he has played in 386 career games for Vancouver.
Edler, 26, was selected in the third round with the 91st overall pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut with Vancouver during the 2006-07 season, playing in 22 games. He scored his first career goal on Nov. 30, 2006, in a loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
