The San Jose Sharks are highest-scoring team so far in this young season and will face the Colorado Avalanche on NHL Network on Saturday.

The Colorado Avalanche travel to San Jose on Saturday to take on the unbeaten Sharks, as both teams come off wins on Thursday.

The Avalanche dropped the first game of the season to the Minnesota Wild yet looked outstanding at home, beating the Cup champion Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets by a 7-1 combined score. Colorado has scored just one power play goal this season but have shined on the penalty kill, going 12-for-12 since allowing two power play goals in the loss to the Wild.

The Sharks, meanwhile, roll into the game as the top scoring team on the young season, averaging five goals per game while clipping at a 38.9 percent pace on special teams. Joe Thornton leads the team with eight assists and nine points in three games, while Patrick Marleau has already scored six goals on the season. Antti Niemi has started all three games this season and is expected to be in net once more for San Jose.

This is the first of three meetings between the teams this season. The Sharks were 3-0-1 last season against the Avs, averaging more than four goals per game in the season series.

Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. ET with national coverage on NHL Network.
