Jimmy Howard injury: Red Wings goaltender out against Bruins
Jimmy Howard will miss Monday afternoon’s game due to a hand injury.

Kahn reports that Howard was struck with a shot during the team's game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night. Howard thought that he might be able to play on Monday afternoon but ultimately determined that he was unable to do so. With Howard out of the lineup, backup Jonas Gustavsson will make his first start of the season.

Howard has made five appearances this season and has recorded a .922 save percentage with a 2.39 goals-against average. It remains unclear how much time he will miss due to the injury.
Gustavsson has stopped seven-of-eights shot faced thus far, with the Bruins and Red Wings currently tied at 1-1 with a little over five minutes remaining in the first period.
