Carlyle stated that van Riemsdyk is dealing with back spasms and that he is experiencing tightness. The forward was able to skate for 30 minutes on Wednesday but left the team’s practice early. Carlyle explained that the injury was not hockey related and that it was a common occurrence for players over the course of a season.
Van Riemsdyk is expected to undergo two treatments on Thursday. No timetable has been set for a return.
This will mark the second-straight scratch for van Riemsdyk as he missed Tuesday night’s game against the Minnesota Wild.
